一見複雑そうに見えますが、実際に使用する機能は、いくつかに絞られています。
このポイントだけ覚えれば、作曲に必要な、使い方の流れも見えてきます。
僕も最初は、画面の見方から分かりませんでした。
しかし、１０年以上の時間をかけて、今ではプロジェクトウィンドウのことが、細部まで分かるようになりました。
今回の記事では、「CUBASEのメイン画面 プロジェクトウィンドウについて」を、DTM初心者さんに向けて、記事や動画を使って分かり易くお伝えしていきます。
CUBASE8を使って説明していますが、全バージョン対応の記事です。(ラックはCUBASE８以降のみ)

・プロジェクトウィンドウとは？
プロジェクトウィンドウとは、CUBASEで音楽制作を行う上で、メインの作業場になる画面です。
ここで、楽曲の録音や再生、編集から、データの取り込み、書き出しまで様々な操作を行うことができます。
・プロジェクトウィンドウを理解しよう
それでは、プロジェクトウィンドウの、機能や役割を見ていきましょう。
・トラックリスト
これに、音源の打ち込みや、歌や楽器の録音を行うための、トラックを作成していきます。
また、他の記事で説明しますが、トラックにはそれぞれ種類があります。
・Audioトラック…ボーカルやギターなどの生楽器を録音、編集するためのトラック。
・Instrument Track…MIDIを使った、音源の打ち込み専用のトラック。
追加すると、縦に並んでいきます。
・インスペクター
これを使って、選択したトラックの情報を確認、ボリューム(音量)やパン(音の位置)の調整、エフェクターの適用など、トラックに対して様々なことができます。
・赤枠…トラックの音量、パンの位置を調整。
・青枠…音源の立ち上げと、情報確認。
・紫枠…エフェクターの適用や、奏法の切り替えなど。
表示されてない場合は、左上のウィンドウレイアウトをクリックし、インスペクターにチェックを入れます。
・トランスポートパネル
これは、楽曲の録音や再生、全体の音量調節、テンポ(曲のスピード)やメトロノームの設定、PCにかかる負荷の確認ができます。
特に、曲作りはメロディーやコードが間違ってないか、何度も再生や停止を繰り返します。
これは、手軽にできるので、表示させて使ったほうが便利です。
・赤枠…録音、再生、停止、リピートなど。
・紫枠…音量の調節。
・青枠…テンポとメトロノームの設定。
・緑枠…楽曲の再生時間。
・ピンク枠…PCにかかる負荷。
表示されてない場合は、上メニューの、「トランスポート」→「トランスポートパネル」を、順にクリックします。
・ツール
これは、打ち込んだ音を編集する際に、切り替えて使用します。
楽曲作りは、これをメインで、作業していきます。
・ルーラー
このタイムラインで、小節数や時間等の、確認ができます。
これを使って、楽曲の長さを計ったり、小節数の設定もできます。
・ラック
CUBASE付属の音源や素材を、ここで管理することができます。
これは、CUBASE８以降に、追加されている機能です。
これが非表示の場合は、同じくウィンドウレイアウトをクリックし、ラックにチェックを入れます。
